foodstuffs etc.

A lot of my picture files have been corrupted lately. I don't know if it's caused by the frequent alternating between editing on macs and pcs or what but somewhere something is going wrong by the time I get home and try to edit them on my computer. That's the digital reality though, I suppose. What's left can go here regardless.

The following is an example, since these four shots are all that's left from the Baton Rouge Open. This newcomer was the winner, though. He completely blew past all the old folks.

Lost all the photos I took with the D2h from a ballroom dancing championship as well, but my rebel was decent, manual focus and all. These in particular are from the latin singles division, and watching two hours of latin dance made me wish I at least knew how to cha-cha.

oh, technology

Well, the autofocus on my favorite lens died recently. Unfortunately this became apparent right when I had to photograph a bunch of unpredictable dancers in a cramped area with little available light, meaning I had to leave the aperture wide-open and contend with a razor-thin DOF while trying to follow their movements. I re-learned pretty quickly how to kick it old school, though. Became reacquainted with the whole sixth sense that anticipates where the subject will move next and all. No more laziness! I'm learning to like it, even.

But, you know, if anyone so happens to have an extra couple hundred bucks they'd like to lend me to repair it I'd be very grateful. Just throwing that out there.

So far I still haven't done anything I'm totally proud of... still waiting.
